Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I am already in Wanganui...they are still debating about the 'H' here...whether to spell it Wanganui or Whanganui, like the river.
It is a beautiful place here. Agree with you w.r.t crime.
Visited Palmerston North & New Plymouth already. I think people in Wanganui are friendlier!

- MistyrainJoelandMel I think you will find the spelling is Wanganui and the river is called the Whanganui River.
I own a house there, which my 77 year old mother lives in. She finds it very peaceful and although there are crime elements (as there are everywhere in the world) it is a nice little town. You just need to use your common sense. It has everything you need as far as shopping goes and Wellington is around 3 hours drive away. Mount Taranaki (Eggmont) is around two hours drive and the whole of the Taranaki area is unspoilt and great for outdoor discovery.
