Hi! I'm Michelle. My husband and I will be moving to Aub Dhabi in August. I will be teaching. My husband would like to work, since finding a job in the states is not an easy thing. He has various experience in alot of things. What kind of jobs are there and what are his chances? Another question is about cell phones. Does Verizon work there?

Hi, I am considering a new job in Dubai. I have a few questions that I would greatly appreciate any answers to, if you don't mind.
1. I am married but intend taking the job up as unaccompanied (at least, initially) - is this likely to cause any problems, either socially or officially?
2. I am currently learning to drive in the UK but am unlikely to have sat my test before the start date of the job. Even if I did, I doubt I would be confident enough to drive in Dubai (I keep hearing that it's like driving in whacky races!) Would being a non-driver be a problem (I was intending to use taxis to get to and from work)?
3. I do not use my husband's name (never have) but am concerned that that we would be mistaken for an unmarried couple when he comes over with our children in the school hols? Would I be over-doing it by bringing our married certificate with me?
Many thanks for any advice.

G'Day Everyone,
I'm an Australian Ambulance Paramedic headed to Abu Dhabi to work in the NAC for the next 5 years. I have never lived outside of Australia before and I'm heading over there on my own. I have a brother and his family living in Dubai, but only recently figured out that they are two 'states' of the same 'country'. When I start work on the 4th Jan I will have known about the job for just on 1 month and have had a firm offer for a little over 2 weeks.
So I am literally turning my life upside down at the moment. But from what I have 'heard' so far, I reckon it will be a great change and it sounds like I'm likely to meet a few good people along the way, so fingers crossed.
Hope to catch up with some of you around the place soon.
Ian
