Hi there all. im a tower crane driver from scotland curently working in dublin. ive been trying to find out about tower crane work in the middle east but cant seem to find any good construction agency's or british company's over there, they only seem to be looking for managment sort of types and not tradesmen. does anyone have any information on how i would go about finding work out there.

You might want to get some access to the internet and look up the major building contractors of Emaar, murray & roberts, DAMAC to name a few. Work here in dubai is plentiful for your trade however you should be aware of one important factor and some thing you should look at very carefully.

The construction industry workforce here in Dubai is mainly made up of Asian workers whom can come here and command salaries that you would not even open one eye for let alone get out of bed!

The question you should ask your slef is why should they employ you, who is used to european wages, when they can get an Asian worker just as experienced and qualified as you but for a tenth of the salary requirement. This is why you find a multitude of positions for managers etc.

I have no doubt at all that if your aim is to move to Dubai by working in the construction industry you will get here, however at what cost.

If you wnat to make any headway here you need to speka to companies direct. Another good source of information is the Business Hawk pages which should also be online, alternatively look at the Gulf News online edition from there you should be able to move your self around the varying websites available.

cheers andy if taken your information onboard and will look into it further. i was aware that they hire alot of asian on low wages but still thought id look into it and see what offers i could get. as i am earning good money here in ireland im not so sure if i would have to get a decent offer to leave.

As said I am sure if you really want to get here you can with out too much difficulty. Maybe you should apply for the managers jobs that are available after all it could be a useful stepping stone.
