I'm an American living with my wife in the Philippines, her native land. We moved here from California for a cheap retirement in 2005 and so far it's working out fine. I hope to give and get a lot of good expatriate advice through this forum.

Congrats on leaving the chaos behind for Manila traffic...hehehe ! I am relocating to Pasig City next week 12/08/09 to be with my fiance. I have lived and worked in Metro Manila previously, and I speak a fair amount of tagalog. I am looking forward to gaining some further insights from this forum.

Nashkat, I hope that your relocation is a pleasant one. I'm sure that your knowledge of Tagalog will put you at a sharp advantage over expats like me who are still struggling to learn it.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like we may be neighbors! Hope u r safe from the gang junk that is happening in the QC area of late, I know it is isolated, but it is still problematic, and hopefully the PNP have a handle on it. I am actually checking out a few opportunities in QC so maybe we could grab a bite or a kape.

btw, if I may ask, what part of America are ya from? I am originally from Cape Cod, but spent the lion's share of my adult life in Texas and Tennessee, and now back to Cape Cod and Pinas.
