Canadian news sources

Post Posted: Fri Aug 29, 2008 1:33 pm

Folks :

Here are a couple of Canadian news and information sources, for you to read and watch, and listen to.

CFRB is a AM band news and talk radio station in Toronto. You can listen to it LIVE on your computer, thru their website connection.

Go to

www.cfrb.com

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation is like the Beeb, but with commercials . It covers all of Canada, with TV and radio stations and even in the high arctic, it comes in on sat signals. Broadcsating not only Englisn and French, it has programing in 17 Aboriginal languages, too. here is the main English tv website for news.

www.cbc.ca/video/

CTV is another national Canadian TV network, here is their national news channel website.

Newspapers in Canada.

The National Post;

The Vancouver Sun

digital.vancouversun.c...iewer.aspx

The Toronto Star ;

vedomosti.newspaperdir...iewer.aspx

The Calgary Herald :

digital.calgaryherald....iewer.aspx

Please let me know if there are any other types of Canadian media that you would like me to feature here, such as smaller city or town newspapers, or radio stations ?

One of our favourite shows broadcast on Wisconsin Public Radio is As It Happens. Lots of interesting articles from all around the world, but from a Canadian perspective. You can listen to it via the above link.

Jim,

Thanks for the links - they make some interesting reading. The link to the Calgary Herald re-directs me to a Russian newspaper! Maybe it's my browser settings, or maybe it's the few glasses of wine I've had.

Anyway, thanks for the links again. Much appreciated

Kindly add in the weather network?

It features 300+ locations across Canada and is available as a television channel, web site, desktop application, email and mobile phone service.

Forecasts are repeated every 10 minutes on the TV with extended forecasts once per hour.

www.theweathernetwork.com/

Thanks.

JulianP

I made a slight goof on the link, BUT that Russian language newspaper IS printed IN Calgary, Alberta, by the Calgary Herald newspaper group.

Ethnic language local newspapers in Canada are found everywhere.

In Toronto, there are 15 daily papers in a language other than English. There are 4 dailys in either Cantonese or Mandarin, for our large Chinese population as well as two Chinese langauge tv stations, and four radio stations for that languge group.

I have corrected the Calgary Herald link.
