Hello Baggers, I was wondering how you are getting on in Oasis Gardens in Khobar. I have only just become a member of Expat Focus, and have just left OG. You will have gathered your own experience by now, after more than a year. You will know now that this is a lovely environment, particularly if you have children (ours are already grown up and far away). Shame that the GM Mohammed Merhabi is a crook - he refuses to pay back the deposit on our company houses. When after 6 months' lame excuses we transferred the missing deposit refund to our own house he evicted us by refusing entry to the compound; then he cut off the power (that day it was 50°C at the airport), so we packed up and left. I want all expats to be warned about this fraudulent and brutal behaviour at the compound. We have now found out that this is a general problem in the compound and there is always trouble on departure. Apart from that, Saudi has its eccentricities and we "love" it for that reason.... We should like to hear how you and Jode got on, though, so I hope you are still communicado.

Hi Baggers , khobar is a very lively city designed same as newyork and all streets are also named as per numbers eg 17 street ,26 street etc etc . yr iphone will work fine here --no problem and u can join SOME SOCIAL GROUPS HERE FOR WESTERN NATIONALS like they have one for americans and for british as well . all nationals can join them and u get to know many others like you and interact with friends .English is widely spoken in khobar and the compound u mention is a great place to get new friends and interact . u will love it here . Allthings are damn cheap including macdonalds ,pizzahut stuff etc etc
