hi mike well i miss suet for doing my chrispmas pudding and dumplins and bisto gravy, so no visitors are allowed to step inside the door unless the produce the goods i want.
we have found out how to make hungarian dumplins but not quite the same. being a land locked country sea fish is hard to get but we have got used to freshwater fish with batter.

Hi,
in Bulg for a year house-sitting.
I miss Red Leicester cheese, proper cheese and onion crisps and yes, pastry for pies, gravy granules, Sunday papers, Radio 4 without podcast downloads. Have however found acceptable custard-substitute.
There are compensations that far outweigh losses:fruit straight off the tree, learned to make compote, pickle my own cucumbers, prune fruit trees and get plants to grow in wait for iiiiiiiiiit : sunshine!
Get my son to send me stuff: two bits of cheese, two Fray Bentos S&K pies and one lot of papers cost £35 to post!
QUESTION IS what do you NOT miss: e.g. council tax, roadtax, extortionate petrol tax

yes mike tesco's stock a lot of UK brands but with bisto the hungarians do make roast dinner or sausage and mash so dont use gravy as we brits do. for suet you can buy the fat off the meat and grate it up like suet but i have more respect for my fingernails ( which i can now afford to have done every 2 months as it only cost £4 )
i dont miss council tax either or speed humps, double yellow lines and being in the country i dont miss the stink of london.

Hi guys,
Just a quick further note on www.britishlionfoodstore.com - some items are coming to the end of shelf life and so there is a "two for the price of one" sale on right now. Also, all Xmas puds are now also two for one (they are well within date). All these items can be delivered throughout Bulgaria and Romania.
Rgds.
