hi logger

if you choose to live in what they classify the "country" planning permission is a word they dont know. we have put up an extension to the kitchen to make a dining room and no one bothers. the satellite dish is hidden from the road so again no problem (its ground mounted)
www.upc.hu/en/upc_tv/ this site will tell you about the TV/ phone/ internet. it is in english.
we also have a sky box with FTV which gets us channel 5 and lots of radio programms hope we will get more when our big dish is set up.

hi hotpot

With my townie mentality wondering about planning permission, I was almost forgetting where you live is out in the country. 3/4 acre is a fair sized lot. Plenty of room then to keep the tracking station out of sight.

We reckon anything more than an acre is an estate, too much maintenance, but it would be nice to have enough room to plant a few trees and grow lots of fruit and veg.

Did you have to search very long to find your place ?
Is that kind of plot size fairly standard out there in the country ?

ho logger

In the country yes it is normal and some go up to about 3 acres. but yes most places have about 1000sq m were it is more built up.
the first 1/3 of garden is the length of the building mainly lawn (if you can call it lawn) with about 7 shrubs and a few grapevines. the next 1/3 is grass mainly for the dog and other out buildingswith fruit trees the last 1/3 is all for veg and more fruit trees. so really there is not a lot of maintenance.

first year we looked we only went to look at 3 places as just needed an insite as what was around the second year via the internet had set up viewings for almost 40 houses with 6 different estate agents. buy the wednesday of our second week we said yes to a house, saw solicitors on the thursday and friday it was ours as long as we paid for it within 31 days.

when i say we are classified as in the country we are in a small village with about 40 houses. 2 pubs and a shop and about 2 k from our town which you can get most things. and 12k away from our nearest city so we are not out in the wilds.
