Welcome to the forum CheesieChops.
I'm sure you'll love it here as much as we do ... we have been here permanently for just over 10 years now.
Do you plan on working when you arrive here? Also, do you plan on placing your children in Portuguese schools ... the friends we know who have are very pleased they did ... the kids learn the language and teach the parents!

[i]Hi My name is Imogen
I have been a lurker on these boards for some time now, but held off joining until now - although we have found many of the posts and topics on this forum to be of great use in our research x
My husband & our 2 kids (5 yr old boy & 4 yr old girl) are well on our way to moving to Portugal.
We are looking to move to Castelo Branco or one of the surrounding villages and hope to be out there permenantly early next year.
I am currently a Sales person for a print company & my husband is an Electrician and Builder.
I have several family members already living in France, but we chose Portugal for the better weather and a lower cost of living.
Hope to join in your conversations on the forum over time x

Hi, I have been lurking around this forum and have now joined. I am Irish, and living in retirement in Lagos Algarve, with my good other half. We arrived in 2006, having spent over 12 years holidaying here twice a year. I have been on the other forums, but am excited by this one because it seems to be truly international, and not UK expat only. My Portuguese is reasonable now, and our social life is predominantly spent in the company of Portuguese. I love living here. We love gardening, grow a lot of our own food, and our favourite pastime is to print a sheet of an area from google map, take a trip and discover the little villages that are not marked in your ordinary maps!

Hi Maoiliosa
Welcome to the Portugal forum
We love Lagos and believe many of our members live in the local area. Please pop along and say hello next time we have a Ladies coffee morning there. Would printing off a goodle map and to meet you. I alos love gardening and attemptto grow some of my own veg!
What a great idea to explore the area via google. I've often looked for an ordanace survey style map and nothing!
Kind regards,
Carole

Hi, just joined today, hope I don't drive everyone mad with loads of questions. I am re-locating to Algarve in early summer, myself my daughter and two dogs....oh I am sure the journey from Scotland will be fun! Hubby hoping to follow a few months later.
We intend to rent for a few months and then hopefully buy a small business and a rural home...well thats the plan so fingers crossed.
Looking forward to chatting (and bending the ears of) forum members!
