Currency transfers

Post Posted: Fri Nov 20, 2009 10:48 pm

Hello people!
More b.....y questions from the pest! Rolling Eyes
Wondered what your experiences of currency transfers was.
I realise that using a specialist company will result in a better deal than a high street bank but can you recommend any in particular?
My question relates to both capital transfers for house purchase and regular payments like pensions.
I have at least opened a bank account in Hu so thats a start (several people died of old age in the queue behind me).
Have a great weekend.
Regards.

Hi Piglet,
Yes I filled in the form (for a capital transfer quote) and await a reply.
Thanks for the thought though.

hi janus.

money money money, like they say is the root of all evil.

transfering money is a big prob for me as it is for many other people at the moment with the euro and the pound. not knowing which way to go you can loose so much in one transaction.

we are lucky at the moment in that we dont have to transfer our pension every week or month. i tend to do it just twice a year so i can sit and wait till i think the best deal can be struck.

as this site has a sponser for transfering money i wont say how we do it. but will pm you if you need more info on what we do.

Hi hotpot,

Thanks for that thought, it's much appreciated, but just a quick note to say I'm more than happy for you to discuss your experiences publicly (if you want to, of course!) I'm confident that our own partner offers an excellent service - in terms of both rates and customer care - but I don't want to stifle discussion of alternatives.

I've found, over the past 10 years or so, that financial services are an absolute minefield for expats - the more discussion we can have the better IMHO.
