Please Introduce Yourself Here

Currently just looking at details of properties in Italy, mainly somewhere along coast from France or down South. Ideally want to exchange one or more of my Bulgarian villas for a place in Italy - happy to swap 3 or more properties for one small place in Italy or even just some land we could put mobile on. We spend the ski season in France and the summers in Bulgaria but would love another bolt hole to spend a couple of weeks in May and October/November en-route as we tend to catch the ferry from Ancona to Greece, but can catch the ferry from Venice or Bari.
Don't know much about Italy except for travelling through each year so thought I would come and take a look around the forum.

Expats in Puglia
Posted: Tue Feb 15, 2011 10:56 am
We are a young couple living in the Puglia region in a town called Andria (approx one hour north of Bari). We have been here since September 2010 and currently work as English teachers.
We are looking for information about events/groups/clubs (English speaking) in the area. We would be interested in meeting with any other Expats in the area, as there aren't many English speaking people in the town.
Many Thanks

Hi, I am Carly and we (myself, hubby Alex, kids Jake (13) and Harry (18mths) and dog Snoop) are looking to move to Italy in 3 year time!
The reason we are waiting is simple - my eldest son begins studying for his GCSE's in Sept (eek!) and we have decided to wait until he has finished his exams before making the plunge. I am also expecting my 3rd child, due in December!!
I guess the reason I have come on this site is to gather as much information as possible. We are looking to rent a property as we are going to keep our house here and rent it out. This way, if we decide its not for us we can come home without too much hassle. I have been trying to find out about rentals but can only seem to find holiday rentals, so thats no help. Can anyone give me any good websites that I can take a look at?? We are thinking about Northern Italy, but to be honest, I haven't really got a clue whereabouts! We are planning a trip at Easter next year which will hopefully give us a better idea, but any information that anyone can give would be fab! We are going to start learning the lingo as soon as possible as we want to be able to give ourselves the best chance of being able to fit in and make a real go of it.
So, thats about it for now, as I said, ANY information, good or bad would be massively appreciated!
Thanks
Carly!!

Hi Carly,
Welcome to the forum. It may be worth making a separate post re your request for long term rental property. I can then include a note in our monthly newsletter and make a request on twitter.
Kind regards,
Carole

Hello -
We are from the USA and have recently purchased a house in Arezzo Tuscany that we hope to use as a holiday house and eventually retire there.

My wife Maria and I spent tens years in Turin, but now we mostly spend our time in Italy in Vicenza.
Hobbies.. well I share my love of Italy on my blogs:

Italy is a great country but it wasn't easy at first even though I speak Italian and my wife is Italian. I reckon it takes about two years before you really settle
