Hey everyone

I'm a nurse in Scotland looking to get a job abroad. I thoroughly enjoy my work in the UK but i have suffered from itchy feet ever since i came back fom my travels and would love to work abroad for a while. I spent some time in the Middle East during my travels and would love to have the opportunity to work there, although i am not really sure of the correct channels to go through!? Would i go through an agency or deal with the hospitals directly? Would it be at all possible to get a job out there with only a year of post qualifing experience? (i know most say they require at least 2 years). Also, i would like to know what the wages are like in these countries. I know they are tax free but i can't find a reliable estimation of the wages i could expect out there anywhere! Sorry about all the questions but any replys and/or information would be greatly appreciated!

I must be missing something here...wasn't the cited range (in the notice for which you provided a link) 1,200 British pounds as the monthly pay amount for a new nurse, with up to 1,800 British pounds for an experienced nurse? That range makes a lot more sense if the UAE hopes to recruit anyone at all from Europe or the U.S.

I'm just asking because I'm considering going into nursing at some point (and also going to the UAE) and am wondering whether to do so as an accountant - which I'll be shortly, after completion of training - or as a nurse.  

I stand corrected! The salary in Dhs is between 7'800 - 11'800 for more qualified nurses... This still isn't a great deal when you take into account living expenses - rental, utilities, food, personal effects and so on but having said that there are many ppl that are happy to share the costs of an apartment or villa - leaving more money in the pocket.

Hope this sounds more realistic.

This site is great too, of course; I just thought the nurses there might have more info on nursing salaries in various countries. I've worked as a nurse for 5 years in Brazil and now, living in Dubai, I'm wondering if its possible to apply for some position directly in hospitals or if I do have to make any exam to approve my certificates/qualificatons.
