It again depends on where in the world you are. In Thailand for one people are very "Pan-asianistic" and prefer other Asians for company, business, etc. And they know who an Asian is. You can get kicked out of a bar for not being an Asian. Or not served in quiet a few places. You try and explain to them that white people can be "Asians". Yeah, right!

Same in Hawaii. If you are not Asian, you can be denied a job and even get beat up. Also, mixed Asian-white couples have been attacked.

You try explaining to a few Samoan thugs in Hawaii who are attacking you that: "Asia is a very big area and it consists of different races".

In the US "Asian" is an official designation to be put in various forms. People from Korea, Japan, China, Thailand are called Asian in a routine way and are seen as that officially. There are Asian-American associations and grants and loans that you can get for being one of those. You can apply for special government programs. And if say, a Russian, applies for those he will be laughed at.

You try explaining that a white person can be an Asian, too, when being denied a loan or being denied a job because they are now hiring minorities.

In the UK, Asians are people from India, Pak., etc. It is mentioned like that on TV and in other types of media.

In Russia they know what an Asian looks like and will beat one up. Recently, a Tajik girl of nine was stabbed and killed. The 140,000,000 Russians know what races Asia has. Yes, it is a big area but there are usually three rough types there:

Tambok ... please don't take offence but you don't seem to understand where I'm coming from .... lets leave it at that and at least agree "Asia" is a very very big place!  

Just to (hopefully) lay this one to rest, my original decision to place Russia under Asia was based on looking at a map and observing that the majority of the country falls within that area of the globe.

Tambok, your arguments for placing Russia under Europe (or sharing it between Europe and Asia) are perfectly valid, hence the fact that I have now reassigned it, and I thank you for your input.

I learned at school that Russia is part of Europe, don't know how that could have happned in the first place???

Well its an interesting point. A European country that borders China and has a coast near to Japan.  

Apart from the middle of the Ocean where else would you put it???
