Antigua Public Utilities Authority telephone division is the national telecommunications company for Antigua and Barbuda. They control over 50 percent of all of the islands telephone connections and as such they are the largest provider of telephone services. They also have a cellular (mobile) phone service, as do Cable & Wireless and Digicel.

Antigua Public Utilities Authority is also one of the internet service providers on the islands; again Cable & Wireless have an interest as one of the islands internet service providers as do Antigua Computer Technologies (ACT). There are over 65,000 internet users between the two islands so there is plenty of business to share

Antigua has an excellent postal service which is extremely reliable. There are four post offices, one each at the airport and Nelson's Dockyard and 2 in the capital city of St John's, one on Long Street and the main sorting office on the High Street. Standard opening hours for the post offices are 8.15am to 12.00pm and 1.00pm to 4.00pm from Monday to Thursday. On a Friday the offices are open until 5.00pm. Saturdays also have a half day opening from 9.00am until 12.00pm. Courier services are available from companies such as Federal Express (FedEx) and DHL.

There are over 36,000 radios on the islands with 6 different radio stations. There are four AM stations and two FM stations. As a temporary solution for internet access there are Internet cafes available. The Barbuda Internet and Technology Centre opened the first internet cafe on the Island, where not only can you get access online they also offer adult training classes on such things as PowerPoint, Excel and Word. They also offer other diverse services from burning photos onto CDs to home insurance.

The public phones are operated by Cable & Wireless. There are many public phones around Antigua and Barbuda so it should always be easy to find one. Making a call is not necessarily an easy affair. Firstly there is the need to dial 011 and then the country code (for example 044 for the UK). Calls can also work out rather expensive as no call charges are indicated. Most of the public phones accept credit cards as payment although prepaid phone cards are also an option. Coins are not usually accepted in public phones. International calling cards are hard to find but there is a supermarket called “Shoppers Paradise” in the capital city of St John's which usually has a good supply.
