Austria - Utilities (Electricity, Gas, Water)

220/230V 50Hz

Plug-type - European with two circular metal pins

Austria's electricity and gas supply markets have been fully liberalised since 2005. The leading energy supplier, Verbund, has recently merged with OMV, a major oil and gas supplier, to form a OMV Verbund AG, a major new energy group.

Apartment blocks in Austria often have centralised heating, with payment for the supply included in the maintenance charges.

Austrian tap water is of a very high standard and is safe to drink straight from the tap.
