Brussels - Employment

There are a number of jobs for expatriates in Brussels. While the majority of employers are looking for workers with at least a minimal understanding of Dutch or French, there are a number of jobs for English speakers within Brussels.

Websites like www.brusselsjobs.com can be of great service to expats seeking employment in the city of Brussels. Brusselsjobs.com is a site designed specifically for expats and helping them to find work. Jobs in the site are listed by category, so that one can easily find his or her area of expertise and apply in their chosen field.

Another excellent site is www.jobsinbrussels.com. Jobs on this site are listed by company, but the site is specifically for English speaking jobs, which is a great benefit to many new and recent expats. This site shows jobs in Brussels and even surrounding areas that are specifically looking for English speakers.

For those who have used the popular Monster job search website here in the United States, the company operates in Belgium as well. By going to http://english.monster.be/ and doing a search for Brussels, one can find all sorts of jobs within the city in almost any field of expertise, including both temporary and permanent jobs.

Atoll is another great recruitment and employment agency in Brussels. Located online at http://www.atoll-careers.be/Landingspagina_E.aspx, Atoll specializes in both permanent and temporary jobs, as well as employment in both the private and public sectors.

In addition to these job search sites, there are a number of specialized recruitment agencies in Brussels. Mezquita, located at http://www.mezquita.be/index.php?section=applicants&menu=1, is a recruitment agency that specializes in human resources, sales and marketing, and management. Mindworks is another excellent example of a specialized agency, adept at helping employers in the cosmetics and IT sectors find employees. Mindworks can be found online at http://www.mindworks.be/jobCatList.asp. Kanoff Legal is a Belgian recruitment agency that helps people in Brussels find work in the legal sector. An excellent place for lawyers to find work, Kanoff has numerous jobs for English speaking expatriates in the field of law from entry level positions right up to partnerships. Kanoff is located on the web at http://www.kanofflegal.com/current-opportunities. Last, EuroBrussels.com, located at http://www.eurobrussels.com/, is an excellent recruitment source for people looking for EU or government jobs. Jobs at EuroBrussels range from legal work to political and consulate jobs.

Brussels does have a government employment service. Known as the Office Regional Bruxellois de l’Emploi (ORBEM) in French, or the Brusselse Gewestelijke Diest voor Arbiedsbemiddeling (BGDA) in Dutch, this service lists many jobs within Brussels. The site, located at http://www.actiris.be/, is listed only in one of the two native tongues of Brussels, but does contain the addresses, phone numbers, and business hours of each branch online. You can also search for jobs directly through the site.
