As an expatriate living in Cairo, you discover that there are many choices for establishing a banking account. Many of the banks in Cairo are based in Egypt, and few of the local banks outside the tourist areas cater to English speaking clients. However, English speakers will recognize several international banks that are located throughout the city.

Expatriates typically select international banks with branches in Cairo. If possible, it is a good idea to establish an account before moving to Egypt's capital city, although there is no guarantee that doing so will help you avoid all of the difficulties involved with obtaining a checking or savings account in Cairo.
