In keeping with the rest of the high standard of living, the Caymans have a state of the art telephone, satellite television and Internet system. The area code for the Caymans is 345. The Cayman Islands is ranked among the top ten countries in the world in per capita concentration of mobile phones. There are numerous public cyber cafes in George Town, and at least one on Little Cayman.
Cable & Wireless Caribbean is the local provider of phone and Internet service. The company offers mobile telephone service, high speed Internet access, voicemail and fax, toll-free 800 service, leased circuits, pre-paid calling cards, 'pay as you go' cellular service, many payphone and card phone locations around the islands, and a wide range of PBX equipment for small to very large businesses. New customers must pay a deposit or provide a letter of guarantee from a bank or credit union. Contact the company for residential or business account applications.
Post office hours are weekdays 8.30am-3.30pm and Saturday 8.30am-11.30am. The main branch is in downtown George Town and there are branch locations throughout the island, including one in the Seven Mile Beach strip. The main post office on Cayman Brac is in West End, and there is also a post office on Little Cayman. Stamps are widely available at grocery stores and most hotels. The stamps of the Caymans are respected by
collectors worldwide.
