Cayman Islands - Leisure, Entertainment and Sports

QUICK LINKS: Caymans Guide - Caymans Discussion Forum - Caymans Property Listings

There is plenty to do on the Cayman Islands, including golf and tennis, cricket, fishing, caving, scuba diving (this is one of the world's top rated diving destinations) and enjoying the night life.

Sunset dinner cruises, including one on a replica pirate ship, are popular, and there are many excellent restaurants in the Caymans. Disco clubs like the Matrix and Bobo's Iguana are popular with the younger crowd. The Harquail Theatre is a state of the art, 330-seat facility, and is the venue for cultural events sponsored by the Cayman National Cultural Foundation The Lions Center on Grand Cayman hosts concerts by top names in Caribbean music and performers from the USA.

Historical and sightseeing tours of the Caymans include a visit to the 18th Century Fort George, Hell Rock, the government's Cayman Turtle Farm, St. James Castle, the Queen Elizabeth Botanical Park, and the National Parrot Reserve. Grand Cayman has an annual Carnival of Batabano, a costumed event modeled after Mardi Gras, and Cayman Brac celebrates Pirate's Week each year with fireworks and pirate costumes. The Christmas season is the most popular time for parties and religious celebrations. 'What's Hot' is a free publication listing events each month. The local newspaper also has a Friday column called "What's Happening', and is considered the best source of weekend entertainment news.
