To bring your cat or dog into the Caymans, you must first get an import permit or valid animal passport, issued by the Department of Agriculture, and an official health certificate issued by a government certified veterinarian in the animal's country of origin. Applications should be submitted in advance of travel and must be accompanied by a non-refundable fee of CI$50 or US$61 in the form of a bank draft or an international money order, payable to the Cayman Islands Government. Contact the Department of Agriculture for application forms to ensure the regulations or fees have not changed, or to ask other questions related to the importation of animals.
It is generally difficult to find apartments that allow cats and dogs. Individual private owners sometimes make exceptions, especially if you are willing to make a pet deposit in the range of CI $450-$600.
