Getting There
Back to top Back to main Skip to menuCroatia - Getting There
Air
Croatia's International Airport is about 10 miles southeast of the capital, Zagreb. A variety of airlines offer connecting service to Zagreb from many European cities, but flights can be expensive, especially during the summer peak tourism months. Croatia Airlines offers onward domestic flights from Zagreb to the major cities and holiday destinations on the coast.
Some airlines that fly into Croatia:
Croatia Airlines flies from London or Manchester to Pula, Split, Zagreb and Dubrovnik. http://www.croatiaairlines.hr/
Ryanair: http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/
Coach
There is a coach service between Zagreb and Brussels, Amsterdam, and several cities in Italy, Germany and Hungary.

Train
There is a regularly scheduled rail service between Zagreb and Italy, Germany, Austria, Yugoslavia, Bosnia-Hercegovina, and Slovenia.
Note: very few trains connect to the coastal areas. It is best to travel by bus, ferry or airplane to get to the Dalmatian Coast.

Ferry
Ferry service (passenger and some limited vehicle transport) is available from ports in Greece and Italy to destinations on the Croatian coast. International lines from Croatia include connections to Ancona, Pescara, Bari and Trieste in Italy, as well as Igoumenitsa in Greece.
Note: not all ferries operate all year round, especially during the winter, and scheduling is not always reliable.
Car
There are numerous border entry points that provide access to Croatia from Hungary, Slovenia, Bosnia-Hercegovina and Yugoslavia. Note: proof of liability insurance is mandatory.
