Utilities (Electricity, Gas, Water)

Croatia - Utilities (Electricity, Gas, Water)

Electricity

Electrical current is 220V, 50Hz. Electric bills are issued monthly, and may be paid at the local office of the electric utility company office. Availability of service and connection charges varies by region.

Contact the Croatia National Electric Company for details at their main office in Zagreb:

10000 Zagreb, Ulica grada Vukovara 37
tel: (+385) 01/63 22 111, fax: (+385) 01/61 70 430

Gas

Natural gas is available in many districts of most cities and large towns. For connection fees and to establish an account, contact the Gas Distribution Company at their main office for specific information about your area:

Note: LPG tanks are commonly utilized as a convenient source of gas for cooking and heating throughout Croatia, especially on the islands. In larger towns some range-ovens and bathroom water heaters may be connected to portable LPG tanks. LPG vendor outlets can be found in virtually every town. LPG vendors also frequent most city neighborhoods on a regular basis and will exchange your empty tank for a fee. They can also be contacted by telephone.

Water

Tap water is considered safe to drink throughout Croatia, although some areas (Zagreb in particular) may have a high mineral content. Bottled water for drinking is widely available.

Note: some islands off the coast may only have well water, spring water or collected rainfall as a water source.

For details on availability, account set-up, and cost of water service, contact the Water Management Directorate at their main office in Zagreb:
