Healthcare and Medical Treatment

Estonia - Healthcare and Medical Treatment

All foreigners entering Estonia may be required to demonstrate proof of health insurance. No vaccination or health certificates are required upon entry, however; and most "over the counter" medications area available in pharmacies ("Apteek") in every town.

The quality of medical care in Estonia continues to improve but still falls short of Western standards. Estonia has many well-trained medical professionals, but hospitals and clinics still lack all of the necessary equipment and resources.

Those traveling to forest areas in warm weather should beware of tick-borne encephalitis.
