Getting There

Finland - Getting There

Finland's main international airport is located 19km north of Helsinki. There are also international airports close to Turku, Tampere and Rovaniemi. Finland has excellent air connections with cities throughout the world.

Both Finnair, the national airline, and SAS operate scheduled flights to Helsinki from all over Europe and many cities throughout North America and Asia, while many other international airlines also fly to Finland. Average flight times to Helsinki are 3 hours from London and 8 hours from New York.

There are a number of road crossings into Finland from Sweden, Norway and Russia. There are also direct rail services from Russia, but none from Sweden or Norway as these countries have different rail gauges to Finland.

Many passenger and car ferry services operate scheduled services to Helsinki, Turku and other Finnish ports from ports in Sweden, Estonia and Germany.
