Property Locations

Ireland - Property Locations

In the Republic of Ireland, 60 percent of all people live in or around Dublin, the largest city in the country. However, other locations in the country provide a welcome retreat. If you are planning a move here, there are more than a few things you will want to keep in mind about the places you stay. You may know Ireland as the home of lush forests and beautiful landscapes, but this location has much more to offer the expat.

Dublin

Dublin does rank high on the locations that foreign nationals will choose to live in. Though property prices here are significantly higher than the rest of the country, there are some added bonuses to choosing Dublin City and the surrounding metropolitan area for your home. The River LIffey runs through the city. There are parts that are new construction but much is older and quaint. The city is prosperous and the homes offer a Georgian style to them. Parks, entertainment, pubs and great transportation abound here.

Galway, Mayo and Clare

The western seaboard of the country is another ideal place to call home. Located on the coastline, this region of the country does offer some outstanding waterfront homes. Some of the most beautiful mountainous regions are also located here. Great food (like oysters) is popular. While this area is a bit more remote, Galway City is a very modern town for those that want a mixture of countryside and modern features.

Cork and Kerry

Down to the south of the country are the counties of Cork and Kerry, both of which are popular options for those who plan to stay for a while. In fact, this region is one of the hottest choices when it comes to foreign buyers because it is a rich tourism area. The climate is mild and the landscapes are inviting. Mountains, lakes and even that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow are waiting here. Cork City is quite modern but the harbor towns of Kenmare, Dingle and Clonakilty are also great choices for foreign nationals.

The Southeast

Another region to consider is the southeast, where you will find Wexford, Kilkenny, Tipperary and Waterford, all of which are a great choice for the foreign buyer who wants culture and outdoor beauty. You will find that some areas are more remote, but because of its ideal location, there are waterfront homes in this area that are prized. Much of this region features smaller villages and the Comeragh Mountains run through it.

Any of these regions of the Republic of Ireland are an ideal investment for those who are looking for a place to call home, or a home away from home.
