Renting Property
Back to top Back to main Skip to menuIreland - Renting Property
Property is quite expensive to rent, especially in Dublin where average prices across all apartments and houses are currently in the region of EUR 1,200 per month. Across the whole country average rents are between EUR 750 and EUR 900 per month. It is possible to find studio flats in the region of EUR 450 upwards, and 1-2 bedroom apartments from about EUR 500 upwards. Cheaper rental properties can be found outside the main urban centres. Rents do not usually include utilities costs.
Details of properties to let can be found in local and evening newspapers and on accommodation agency websites. Properties may also be advertised in local shop windows or on supermarket noticeboards.
There are accommodation agencies in Dublin and the other main cities and towns that will help you to find private rented property.
You will normally be asked to pay a deposit to reserve a rental property, which will be returned when the lease is signed.
Under the Residential Tenancies Act 2004, private landlords in Ireland cannot charge more than the open market rate for the apartment or house, and cannot review the rent more than once a year unless the accommodation has changed substantially.
