Boasting style and sophistication, Dunes Club Amman offers high standards in sports, fitness and leisure. Visitors can take part in a number of fitness activities and sports, such as swimming, tennis, squash and also make use of the extensive gymnasium and spa facilities. It is also a good place to socialise with locals and tourists. The club is an affiliate of the International Health Racquet Sports Association. This is a not for profit organisation which aims to ensure high quality standards. The club is also a member of the Passport Programme, and club members can make use of other Passport member clubs all over the world.
The Dunes Club is one of the most popular venues in the capital but there are other gymnasium facilities located around the country. Gym memberships are usually quite reasonable, but the more facilities there are the more you will have to pay. Those who just want to keep fit should consider a basic gymnasium, rather than paying the extra for facilities they may never use.
Also to be enjoyed in the capital is Amman Waves Aqua Park and Resort, located in the suburbs of the city, on the main road to Queen Alia international airport. It is the first and biggest water park in Jordan, spread over a total surface of 80 000 metres squared. The land is made up of pine trees and lush landscaping, making it the ideal location to enjoy nature. As well as having the best waves in Amman, it has a multitude of activities for the whole family to enjoy. Further development is planned at this resort.
Jordan also has a number of quality golf courses and those who enjoy horse riding can take part in excursions outside of the cities. Popular spectator sports include football.
The cities are packed with restaurants which offer a wide range of cuisines and there are clubs for those who enjoy a night out. Restaurants are reasonably priced so eating out is affordable for most. Alcohol is not prohibited in Jordan, but drinking in the street is not permissible.
