The Maltese currency is the Euro.
Tipping is generally expected in Malta if service is not included in the bill. It is usual to offer 10-15% in restaurants, and around 10% to taxi drivers.
Malta is one of the cheapest places to live in Europe, with groceries, clothing, furniture and utility services all being very reasonably priced. Domestic help such as maids and gardeners can also be found at relatively low hourly rates.
