Soccer (futbol) is the national pastime in Mexico. You can watch it on TV, go to local games, or simply watch people playing it in the streets. In addition, because most people don't have yards, public parks are always full of people having cookouts, parties, or just enjoying the weather.
If you live in a mid-size to large city, you will be able to find poetry readings, theatre or other cultural events to fit almost any taste. In addition, there are always festivals, parades and celebrations of some sort taking place.
Museums and art centers are common in Mexico, and children's museums in particular (a relatively new phenomenon) are increasing in number.
