The Philippines' monetary unit is the peso, divided into 100 centavos. International credit cards such as Visa, Diners Club, Bank Americard, Master Card, and American Express are accepted in major establishments.

Rental of a 2-3 bedroom house in the major cities is around US$70-180 a month. Average monthly electricity charges range from US$20-40, water US$3-5, and landline phone US$10-15. Cost of meat US$3-4 per kilo, poultry US$2 per kilo, vegetable US$0.75-1.50 per kilo, fish US$2-3 per kilo and rice US$0.40-0.60. Average monthly salary for household help is around US$40-45 and for a driver US$90-100.

The metric system is used in most trade and legal transactions.
