Poland has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons. Winters are cold and can be quite severe, while summers are usually fairly warm and sunny. Spring and autumn are usually mild. There are high levels of rainfall all year round, with frequent thunderstorms in summer. Winters usually bring snow, especially in the mountains.
Average winter temperatures are around 0 degrees C and average summer temperatures around 24 degrees C, but it is not uncommon for temperatures to fall to -30 degrees C in winter, and to increase to above 30 degrees C in summer.
On the Baltic north coast winter temperatures tend to be somewhat higher and summer temperatures somewhat cooler than in the rest of the country.
