Portugal - Getting There



Air

There are international airports located in the following cities:

- Lisbon
- Porto
- Faro
- Funchal (Madeira)
- Ponta Delgada (Azores)
- Laies (Azores)

Lisbon's international airport is serviced by flights from a variety of destinations, including England, France, Spain, the USA and Canada. There are also international flights to Porto and Faro.

The Portuguese national airline is Air Portugal (TAP). For domestic service, the regional airline SATA offers connections to the Azores.

Train

There are daily international railway connections to destinations abroad:

- Lisbon - Porto - Paris (Twice daily)
- Lisbon - Madrid
- Porto - Vigo (Spain)
- Lisbon - Badajoz (Spain)


Driving

You may enter Portugal by car at the following major points of entry:

- Valenca do Minho (in the north)
- Guarda (in the east)
- Badajoz (in the south east)
- Villareal (southern coast)

These checkpoints are manned 24 hours a day.


Bus

There is frequent coach service to Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve from several cities in Spain.

There are regularly scheduled departures between Faro and Seville.


Ferry

Brittany Ferries

The Plymouth-Santander ferry allows you to take your car from Great Britain to Spain.

P&O Ferries

P&O operates a ferry from Portsmouth to Bilbao, an alternative to the more popular Plymouth-Santander route.
