The official language of Qatar is Arabic, but English is the second language and is very widely spoken, being used particularly to communicate between the many different nationalities living in the country.

All teaching in Qatari schools and colleges is in Arabic, with English being widely taught as a foreign language from the beginning of elementary school.

Expatriates can attend classes to learn Arabic at the Qatar Center for the Presentation of Islam (QCPI) in Doha.
