Utilities (Electricity, Gas, Water)

Saudi Arabia - Utilities (Electricity, Gas, Water)

There is a curious mix of power supply in many Saudi properties, with both 110 volt and 220 volt wiring, although most appliances have American 2-pin plugs. Most houses only have one or two power outlets in each room.

Many expatriates have the cost of electricity and water included in their rent. Electricity is provided for each region of the Kingdom by Saudi Consolidated Electric Companies.

Bottled gas is also available for cooking, with bottles either plumbed in or stored in kitchen cabinets. There are refilling centres in every district, and a bottle costs around SR 20 to refill.

Most expatriates boil their drinking water, although many properties have fitted ceramic filter taps. The water supply is desalinated and fluoridated.
