Getting There

Taiwan - Getting There

Taiwan has two international airports, Chiang Kai Shek International Airport, located around 40km south of Taipei, and Kaohsiung International Airport.

More than thirty airlines operate flights between Taiwan and major cities throughout the world, including Taiwan's national airline, China Airlines. Commercial flights between mainland China and Taiwan only resumed in 2005 after being banned by the Taiwanese government for many decades.

Approximate flight times to Taiwan are around 15 hours from London, 12 hours from Los Angeles and 1 hour 30 minutes from Hong Kong.

There are regular ferry services between Okinawa in Japan and Taiwan's main ports of Keelung and Kaohsiung, and between Kaohsiung and Macau.
