Taiwan is not a popular retirement destination for foreigners; unless married to a Taiwanese citizen the majority of expatriates only live and work in the country for a relatively short time.

A further complication is that overseas pensions may be taxable in Taiwan since it has relatively few double taxation agreements with other countries.
