Utilities (Electricity, Gas, Water)
Back to top Back to main Skip to menuTaiwan - Utilities (Electricity, Gas, Water)
You are likely to have to pay your own utilities bills in Taiwan; the price of utilities is not normally included in the rent. Typically, monthly utilities bills for a three-person household are:
Gas: TWD 500-600
Electricity: TWD 500-1,000 (depends whether air-conditioning is used)
Water supply: TWD 250-375
Some smaller apartments do not have a gas supply.
Electricity bills are sent out every two months, and gas and water bills every month (if gas is used). They can be paid at convenience stores, banks or the post office, or via your landlord. Many banks will arrange payment of bills by direct debit.
Rubbish is collected at least once a day, and you will be required to take your bins to the truck - a tune is played to alert you to its presence. You should separate recyclable materials into glass, aluminium, plastic and cardboard, and place these into the appropriate sections of the truck.
