Entertainment, in the form of going to the movies or to a Thai leisure center, is very inexpensive in Thailand (movie tickets are currently $3 in the Central Business District). Watching movies is also a very popular form of entertainment among Thais and most Thais know more about the movie entertainment industry than the average foreigner knows!
Another popular form of "entertainment" in Thailand is found at the "mall", where many teenage Thais "hang-out".
Sports
Two sports that Thais are fanatical about are football and golf. Football is watched by most Thai men at the weekend - in particular, the English Premier League. On the other hand, golf courses in Thailand are second to none, inexpensive and a delight to play. If you enjoy golf, you'll enjoy Thailand.
Other sports popular in Thailand include scuba-diving, sailing and snooker.
Clubs
Most towns and cities in Thailand have some form of club where foreigners tend to meet up. In Bangkok this is the British Club (off Silom road) for those with young families. The British Club has excellent facilities and also has a number of sports clubs affiliated to it.
In Phataya and Phuket it tends to be the Yacht Club where you can expect most expat families (with young children) to congregate at weekends.
