Hi I want to introduce myself. My nickname is scfd (Sharon)I am Australian and I am married to a Portuguese and we are moving there in the middle of this year (July 2008). I am looking forward to the move and it won't be so new as we go there every year for our holidays. We are moving to a little village near Vizeu, as we have a hourse there (my husbands family goes back a couple of hundred years in this village). I would like to keep in touch with English speaking people, especially in that region.

I speak Portuguese very little but each time get a little better. I think I will book into an intensive Portuguese course when I arrive there. Please make contact.

Hi Sharon,
Welcome to the forum, and welcome to Portugal (soon.)
Have you thought of joining facebook? There are plenty of Viseu folks on there and they mostly speak English. Go on the main Portugal network and ask the same question you have on here. Failing that, the members of this board are always here for you.

Yes, Sharon, we are always here for anyone and like to think we are a welcoming bunch. I too am moving to Portugal permanently in July, but to the Algarve, even so, it is an exciting time in all our lives. I hope your move works out really well for you.

Hello Sharon,
We moved here about 8 weeks ago from England. We are about 7 miles North East of Viseu in a small village. Would welcome contact and meet up when you arrive. We are taking Portuguese lessons at a school in Viseu, sure there is room for one more.

Hi Hartmill

What is the name of the village? We have been visiting every year for the last 9 years. Our house is in a Village called Pedra Caveleiro (I think that is the correct spelling). This is between Viseau an Nellas. I will certainly let you know when we are on our way over, it is good to make contact. I also did not realise that there was a school in Viseau that has English Lessons. Could you possibly give me the name? It is great to hear from you.

thankyou to everyone that has answered so far. Laughing

Hello Sharon,
We live in a small village about half way to Satau. The school is called The International House. Please pm me when you are coming so we can arrange to meet.
Best wishes
Tom
