Hi my wife and I are hopefully moving to Bremen this fall and I will be making just over 100,000 Euro gross. She will not be working immediately but will probably eventually find a job. I found a really nice place for 1190 Euro a month. This INCLUDES utilities. That's very high but it is really nice. With the high taxes in Germany, is this place doable?

Hi!
First of all welcome to the forum and thanks for your post.

Off the top of my head I would guess that the apartment is doable, if by doable you mean that there would be enough money left over for you to live off of after paying rent. Bremen is not the most expensive city in Germany and even there you'd be doing ok with your salary and rent.

Have a look at the following website: www.nettolohn.de/
which gives you an idea of how much your net salary would be based on your income (only in German, but try www.leo.org, which is a well-known online dictionary).
Do bear in mind that as an expat in Germany there may be certain tax breaks and deductions which you may be eligible for, so do inform yourself well before arriving.

Good luck, do drop another line if we can be of further assistance!
