What is the education system like in Malta? As an expat would it make sense to choose the International School? What are the other fee-paying schools like? Does anyone have kids in the state system and how are they coping doing? An idea of costs for the fee paying schools would be great. My boy is away to start school in August here and would like the get as much info as possible as DH seems to be worrying about the schooling aspect. Do they all teach partly in Maltese? My attempts at the language so far are not encouraging.

And how do they fair against our schools? Achievement/behaviour management etc.

Good afternoon, i have only just registered on this site. Just for info i have 2 girls 12 and 13 years, they have done few weeks in April and now just started new term. They are at an all girls government school in Pembroke, boys have similar. As we are now eu the schooling is free. The curriculum follows on from english and exam structure appears to be the same.

I thought I would try government school first, they are strict, which i think is better. They found it odd to start with being only girls at school, but soon got used to it. i think it is better in some ways no distractions with blys at school!

There is no necessity to speak maltese as most lessons taught in English. Although my 2 do have maltese lessons at school, which they seem to enjoy.

Hope this helps and you got yourself sorted with a good school for your son.

For info Debsmary Smile
