Hi

We have just this week got jobs in Frankfurt and desperately need to find a house to rent that will allow us to keep our dogs with us.

We need to be out in the sticks really. I realise this is a pretty impossible task but can anyone help?

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Try looking at the following websites, which are two popular sites with properties for rent/sale throughout Germany:
www.immobilienscout24.de
www.immowelt.de

It's all in German so you may have to use an online dictionary to help navigate (www.leo.org would be a good option). I could give you some specific tips, but I'd need to know some more details (how large, how far out from the city centre you're willing to go, furnished or unfurnished etc etc)
One thing to look out for:
In Frankfurt many of the properties on the market go through a real estate agent, to which you would have to pay a commission (in German "Provision")of ca. twice your monthly rent plus VAT. However, there are properties available from private persons, for which a commission does not need to be paid.

Further tips on accommodation and on getting around in Frankfurt in general can be found here:

www.expatfocus.com/exp...-frankfurt
www.newcomers-network..../index.php

I hope this helps you at least a little bit in finding your way.
I can already tell you that Frankfurt is a vibrant, international, beautiful, exciting city, and I hope you will enjoy being there! There are certainly many green parks to take your dogs walking!

Best of luck finding a place, if you need any further help just drop us another message!

Thank you for this. I will check out the sites you mention.

In answer to your questions. We need to be out of the city and don't mind where as long as the journey to work isn't too much more than an hour or so. Unfurnished is fine and we're not bothered about the size. We just need to find somewhere.

Thanks.

I hope your search is going well.

Some areas you might want to look at : the Taunus area in general (e.g., Königstein, Kronberg), Bad Homburg, Bad Soden. Just a random selection of nice small towns close to Frankfurt that'll give you lots of space.

Good luck!
