Expat Focus monthly photo competition - Rules & How to Enter

Welcome to the Expat Focus monthly photo competition!

Every month we choose a new topic and invite our membership to post their entries in this forum (not a member yet? Register here for free). After the deadline each month the photos will be judged by the Expat Focus team and a winner selected. The winning member will receive a 20GBP Amazon book voucher (or equivalent if Amazon doesn't deliver to your country) together with a mention in the monthly newsletter. The winning entry will also be placed in the winner's gallery!

How to enter?

Just follow these simple instructions:

1. Check the announcement in the competition forum for this month's topic - then create your masterpiece using your own skill and judgment!

2. Click the "New Topic" button in the photo competition forum and

EITHER

Add a photo to your forum post from your own PC by clicking the Browse button in the "Attach an Image or Photo" section (see screenshot below) and selecting the relevant image file. Remember to click Add Attachment before pressing Submit!

OR

Link to your photo if it's already on the web (e.g. on your own site, blog, Facebook page etc.) by clicking the "Image" button in the bottom left of the New Topic menu as indicated by the arrow in the screenshot below:

This will open a box where you can enter the URL (just another word for "website address" or "location") of your photo. Note: if you're using a photo sharing service and have a variety of links to choose from try the one described as "Direct" first.

Once you have entered the image URL/location into this box click OK and then click preview to check your photo displays correctly.

3. Remember to add when and where the photo was taken and using what type of camera!

What are the rules?

A full set of the competition rules can be found here but here is a quick summary of some of the most important:

1. All images submitted should be original and not associated with any copyright. By displaying your image at Expat Focus you accept that you are the owner of the image and that there are no copyright restrictions imposed on the image.

2. Participants may enter one image only per competition each month. Moderators and Expat Focus staff or their families are not permitted to enter this competition.

3. Obscene, shocking or unlawful images are strictly prohibited.

4. Expat Focus reserves the right to remove any image and all references to it at any time.

5. No modification or editing of images is permitted.
