Can onyone help with this?
My husband and I are looking to purchase land and build in the next year or so, and are intending to purchase a Greek car in Greece, or a left hand drive car in Germany, through help from friends, to use in Greece. I have read somewhere that diesel cars are banned in Thessaloniki, which is where we fly into and have someone who could look after a car for us. I have noticed that diesel fuel is available in Thessaloniki, but can anyone shed any light on the ban? Does it apply only to those resident in Thessaloniki or to visitors to the city also. We have come to the conclusion that cars are so much cheaper in Germany than either in Greece or England and as the situation with the German version of the MOT test is only needed every two years, as opposed to every year in England, this halves the difficulty of returning the car for a test, so one can tax it, and stay legal. There are horrific stories of people attempting to import cars paying vast sums of money, so this seems the best way to go.

Interested if anybody has the answer or any other solution.

Thanks
