Expat Tweeters on Twitter - who's your favourite?

Post Posted: Tue Aug 18, 2009 12:07 am

Do you follow someone on Twitter who has something interesting to say about life abroad? Do you yourself tweet about life as an expat?

Now that Expat Focus has finally jumped on the Twitter bandwagon - and I can see what all the fuss is about! - I thought it might be useful to put together a list of everyone's favourite expat tweeters...

I'll make this post a sticky so please just reply to this thread with those you think should be on the list (a Twitter URL plus a few words about who/where they are should be sufficient) and I'll update the list below at regular intervals.

twitter.com/hazmattmum (B&B in France)
twitter.com/DreamingSpain (Andalucia, Spain)
twitter.com/expatexpert (Robin Pascoe)
twitter.com/alexandermcnabb (Dubai)
twitter.com/ExpatCoachMegan (Megan Fitzgerald)
twitter.com/victoriatwead (author of a humorous book about life in a Spanish village)
twitter.com/Rondaspain (Ronda news in brief)
twitter.com/computergenius (Pete Clark, commercial freelance programmer living in Spain)
twitter.com/lecrin (It’s life in Spain but not always as you’ve been sold it!)
twitter.com/thisisspain (Steve, blogging and twittering about all sorts of stuff from Fuengirola and Torrevieja)
twitter.com/thandelike (American writer/producer in Istanbul)
twitter.com/skinnylatte (world traveling Singaporean)
twitter.com/lonniehodge (English teacher in China)
twitter.com/missexpatria (American in Italy)
twitter.com/mymarrakesh (American in Morocco)

PS I don't think tweets necessarily need to be useful or informative to make following someone worthwhile, sometimes a bit of fun and gossip is just as good Laughing

I live up a mountain and only have dial-up, so I'm not a fan of Facebook which is so slowwwwww. I really like Twitter, it's snappy and not so time-consuming.

I'm VictoriaTwead - author of Chickens, Mules and Two Old Fools, about life in a Spanish village.
and I also follow:-
RondaSpain - Ronda news in brief.
Computergenius - Pete Clark, commercial freelance programmer living in Spain.
Lecrin - It’s life in Spain but not always as you’ve been sold it!
ThisisSpain - Steve, blogging and twittering about all sorts of stuff from Fuengirola and Torrevieja.

Hi all! I'm an American writer/producer of cultural entertainment based in Istanbul. I tweet what's crossing my desk and mind, with resources for writers and travelers, expats, Turkophiles and culturati of all stripes: www.twitter.com/thandelike

Other interesting expats on Twitter (There are so so many, check out who they are talking with):
www.twitter.com/skinnylatte (world traveling Singaporean)
www.twitter.com/lonniehodge (English teacher in China)
www.twitter.com/missexpatria (American in Italy)
www.twitter.com/mymarrakesh (American in Morocco)

Best,
Anastasia

Excellent topic. Once eventually get to France (currently holed up on hotel room in Italy as car broke down) will take a look at all these.

I have a twitter page - www.twitter.com/thetravelbug09

Excellent list, I've enjoyed reading many of the tweets, without wanting to pick one out at the expense of the others.
