Hi everybody,

I'm a new member of expatfocus and I'll most likely move in Amsterdam in April. I'm an accountant in an international company and I've always been living in Switzerland.
I'll probably receive an offer within the next week to supervise the accounting department in Amsterdam but I've no clue about the live standard and cost of living?

Could any one help me about:

Salaries: What is the annual income of an accountant?
What could be the yearly income for a supervisor?

Rent: seem very expensive to rent in the city center (around 2400€)
What about the price in the suburbs ?
Amstelveen in a city or a district ?
and is the price of 295'000€ expensive for an apartment (90m2)
in Kempenlaan ???
Are they some unfurnished apartment to rent? (Seem not after
some web search)

Tax: Except the 30% tax ruling for expat what are the rate if you are EU
Resident ?

General question: what is the price for an high speed connexion?
what does it cost per hour to hire some one to do
ironing and cleaning? :')

Many thank for your help

Hi,
I will try to answer a few of your questions. As for salaries, I do not have any idea and hopefully someone else can answer that for you.

Rent is high here..everywhere!! Amstelveen is just outside of Amsterdam and is easily accessible into the city by bus or tram. 295,000 euros is not expensive ANYWHERE here for an apartment..amazing but true.

I think you can check on high speed internet connection by looking at websites..try www.kpn.nl although it is probably all in Dutch. Compared to the U.S. it is very expensive because here you also have to pay your provider (phone company) on top of the internet connection.

I'm not sure what the rate is for cleaning and ironing but there are always a lot of people looking for these kind of jobs, so I don't think you will have trouble finding someone and I also don't think it would be very expensive.

Good luck with your decision.

Martha
