Best currency to get paid in.

Hi all,

I have taken a job offer from a company in Saudi Arabia and will start there in november. Before things get started, I would like to ask for some advice concerning the currency I should be paid in. The contract is in $, but as far as I understand I can choose to be paid in either $, € or SAR. Being european it would be easier to be paid in €, but then I would have to exchange part of my salary in SAR to cover my expenses. Furthermore, they would calculate the salary in € based on the current exchange rate (which isn't really good right now). Another question that bugs me is if I should get an account at a saudi bank or some big international bank since I have to cancel my current bank account as soon as I emigrate. I hope you guys have some advice for me.

Hello. I will let you know what we have chosen to do and hopefully it will help you make your decisions.

We also had to close our home bank accounts so we opened one with both SABB and HSBC (offshore banking). Our company then deposits a small portion in our SABB account in SAR to cover our Saudi expenses and then the rest we have deposited in our offshore account in USD.
