Contracts in Dubai - UK-based freelancer

A friend of mine (UK-based) is a freelancer and has been approached by a Dubai firm to do work on that basis.

He is a bit concerned for various reasons - and wants to make sure that the firm knows his terms and conditions before agreeing to do the work.

Is anyone aware of potential pitfalls (other than normal business risk?) - for example - do contracts have to be written in Arabic to be enforceable in Dubai law?

The service would almost certainly require my friend to come to Dubai to do the work - anyone know what the legal situation regarding freelance work, residence permits etc is?

Does anyone have a link to a decent website on the subject?
