Hi, I am planning to leave the UK to move to Abu Dhabi with my partner who has two kids from previous relationship. We are planning to marry before departure but we are trying to understand what issues we may have in obtaining Visas for the children? Anybody can help?! Ciao, Andrea

Hi Folletto

Sorry for the delay in welcoming you to expat focus!

Your lack of responses on this post may refelct how sticky the situation is...

In overview, as long as your husband has clear custody of the children, who have his surname etc and HE is being sponsored by his employer in the UAE to work you should all be fine.

The order is simply the emplyed person gets sponsored (residency and work permit) and they can then in turn sponsor their family residency and (no objection to work for a wife) plus residency for schooling HIS children etc.

You don't make it clear though if it is you or him that is coming out for a job offer - The situation would be much more difficult if it is you leading and attempting to sponsor them - (Even sponsoring a legal husband can be a challenge, although usualy achievable, but his kids - quite possibly a show stopper.)
