Thousands of homes illegally built in Spain are to be pulled down – with no compensation for existing owners.

That's my worse fear as someone who is hoping to buy shortly. How can we be sure the property we are buying isn't already or will become an illegal build.

Yep,
Checked out the property website mentioned in the article and Banana Beach is still being advertised. It is discgraceful.

What can be done to warn people?

Kaz, I must admit if I was looking to buy in Spain I would be asking the same question. Which area are you looking at? I have the contact details of various associations perhaps they can shed some light on this?

My sister is looking to move to SPain, but she is looking to buy in a village that has been there centuries, so perhaps that is the answer.....??

I am not sure this problem is just restricted to one area....does anyone have the answer to this??

thanks
Piglet

The figure given for Chiclana is widly inaccuate; a public apology was given by the author of the figures some time ago
